Ag expo participation contradicts industry trends

Participation in the Oklahoma Youth Expo agriculture program is at historically high levels this year, event officials said, even though industry trends would suggest otherwise.

The balancing factor seems to be a growing interest in metro area youth ag development programs, expo spokesman Tyler Norvell said.

“More and more of these are nontraditional ag students, living in the city while they keep their animals at the school farm or nearby,” he said Friday during the annual event at State Fair Park.
