Back to the Big House! Eagles advance to State Tournament

The Hennessey Eagles made quick work of the Area Round of the playoffs last week, winning their opening game over No. 17 Northeast Academy to automatically advance to the State Tournament. Coach Brady Page and the Eagles will be making their secondstraight appearance in the State Tournament, and their fourth in Page’s tenure.

The Eagles improved to 24-2 on the season, and wasted little time establishing themselves last Friday against the Vikings. After collecting the opening tip, Angel Rodriguez took the ball straight to the basket, and laid it in for two to set the tempo early.

Northeast has been one of the few teams the Eagles have faced that could match both their size and athleticism, but the early aggressiveness by Rodriguez established confidence right off the bat for Hennessey. Rodriguez went on to lead the Eagles with four points in the opening frame, while Cooper Fuksa, Hugo Rodriguez and Brandon Ramirez each put in three to give Hennessey a two-point advantage after one.
