Choate and Roe selected for HHS Hall of Fame

The late Ralph J. “Butch” Choate is a 1965 graduate of Hennessey High School. Choate was a lifelong resident of Hennessey and the son of Jack H. Choate and Jule J. Judson Choate.

After graduation from HHS Choate attended the University of Oklahoma before he was drafted into the U.S. Ma

rines in 1966. He trained and was stationed at Camp Pendleton north of Oceanside, CA, before serving 13 months in Vietnam. He met his wife Jan Yack in Newport Beach, CA in 1969, they lived in California one year before Choate moved back to Hennessey.

Choate graduated from Phillips University in 1973. He owned and operated Choate Ford for 14 years and worked with his father in the oil and gas industry. The family owned and operated Turkey Creek Golf Course since 1995.
