Collier sweeps Meet of Champions for second year in a row
For the second-straight year, Hennessey’s Madison Collier will be leaving the Meet of Champions with a pair of first-place medals around her neck. After winning both the discus and shot put in her freshman season, Collier returned to Moore to once again sweep the throwing events last Tuesday.
However, this year Collier will only be leaving with one new personal-best performance. As a freshman, her toss of 42 feet, 11 inches in the shot put and 150 feet four inches in the discus were both her top marks of the season.
Last Tuesday, Collier was only able to break her own personal record in the shot put. Still, it was an extremely impressive performance. After finishing third in the shot put at the State Meet for a second-straight season, Collier found herself trailing Eufala’s Macalyla Needham with one throw left.
