Devon Energy Funds Hennessey FFA Chapter’s STEM Program
Devon Energy selected Hennessey’s FFA chapter to receive a $1,250 grant for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. W ith the funds, the Hennessey FFA chapter will expand the sheet metal works program to complement recent technological upgrades. New equipment such as a belt sander and grinder will be purchased to introduce agricultural mechanics students to a new skill that holds tremendous value in the industry.
“Even though the equipment is new and innovative to the program, it will expand and complement the kind of projects students can currently fabricate,” said Hennessey FFA Advisor Jorge Huizar. “Devon’s grant helps students who cannot participate in traditional projects that require access to land find a niche and achieve the same level of quality agriculture education.”
