Eagle Event Center is ready to rumble

It has been nearly four years since the vision of the Eagle Event Center, also sometimes referred to as “The Dome,” started out as just a need for a storm shelter.

Hennessey Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Woods was still new on the job in 2016. He wasn’t unfamiliar with the concept of a dome building. Drummond Public Schools had built one when Woods was superintendent there.

Not to the scale of the Eagle Event Center (EVC).

When the school district started talking about building a storm shelter, Woods became interested in a multi-use facility and reached out to architect Michael McCoy.

“The inside could be anything you wanted it to be, who not a gym,” said Woods. “How do you lose on that?”
