Hennessey Children Celebrate Literacy Challenge and End of Year Achievements
Hennessey Pre-K and Kindergarten students performed for parents and grandparents before walking across the school’s stage to accept their certificates of completion for the school year Thursday, May 9. During the event, Pre-K students sang and danced, and kindergarteners sang, danced and played instruments they made themselves from Kleenex boxes and rubber bands.
Hennessey Elementary School handed out nine awards. The first award was for fifth grade Spelling Bee winners. The winners were Justin Tovar for first place, with second place going to Mauricio Valles and third place going to Kaden Kennedy. The next award was for fourth grade Spelling Bee winners: first place, Karlie Best; second place, Gabriel Roman; third place, Joe Meraz. Third grade Spelling Bee winners were Tucker Gordon with first place, Hagen Copeland with second place and Isabela Figuera with third. Second grade Spelling Bee winners were Wade Walker with first place, Charlie Tillman with second place and Brianna Beard with third. First grade Spelling Bee winners were reported as Eli Lee taking first place, Reese Meek with second place and Aiden Snyder with third.
Additionally, Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma spokesman, Jack Painter, presented the Masonic Awards to students and staff. Before handing out the awards, Painter discussed recent work done by the Masons.
