Hennessey earns a split in opening week of baseball

The Hennessey High School baseball team split a pair of games last week to open their season. After dropping their seasonopener to Chisholm on Monday and having their Tuesday game against Perry canceled, the Eagles won their Friday-night matchup at Fairview for their first win of the year.

In their 5-3 loss at Chisholm, the Eagles actually got off to an early lead. After two-scoreless innings, Wade Vinson and Juan Gonzalez hit back-to-back singles in the third. Cooper Fuksa reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases.

Next, Zane Hugaboom drove in a run with a single, and two more scored on wild pitches. Kaden Rapp followed up with a bunt single, but Hennessey was unable to plate another run.
