Hennessey girls win 2nd, boys take fifth
The Hennessey Middle School Cross Country teams capped off their season with a tip to Oklahoma City for the 25th Annual Oklahoma Junior High All-Star Cross- Country Championships on October 18th. After a strong season by both teams, the event gave them one last opportunity to show that the Eagles’ future in the sport remains bright.
The girls’ team came out strong with five runners finishing in the top 30 to earn them second place as a group. Eighth grader Jamie Torres finished sixth overall in the 2400-meter event with a time of 9:50.5. That was the second-fastest among eighth graders in Class 3A. Taryn Jech was the second- fastest seventh grader in the race, with a time of 9:56.3 that put her in eighth overall. Star Torres was the only fourth grader to compete in the race but her age didn’t stop her from finishing 13th overall with a time of 10:07.4.
