Hennessey Middle School earns six medals at State Meet
By Austin Smith
The Hennessey Middle School Powerlifting teams competed in the State Meet last Thursday in Anadarko, where the seventh graders had six kids earn points, and the eighth graders had an additional three. Hennessey has become a consistent competitor in powerlifting at the high school level over the past few years, and the younger athletes’ success will only go to help extend this program’s success.
Among the seventh graders, Nykolaus Snyder earned 22 points with his secondplace finish in the 132-pound division. He produced the top bench press in the group at 135 pounds, while also squatting 220 pounds and pulling up 265 on his deadlift.
Kason Copeland collected 16 points for his thirdplace finish in the 181-pound division. Copeland also put up the best bench press in the group at 135 pounds, while he lifted 205 pounds on his squat and 260 on his deadlift.
