Hennessey schools introduces students to media and broadcasting
Hennessey Public School's introduces students to media and broadcasting. Broadcasting and Video Production teacher, Patrick Courtney, sat down with The Hennessey Clipper to discuss the class.
Courtney has been a videographer for roughly 30 years, and he uses his vast history to teach his students not only about broadcasting and video production, but also about the history and equipment behind it all, both old and new. He shows the students the older equipment and methods used along with current ones, teaching them how quickly and dramatically technology changes.
One of his tools is a VCR with a Plexiglas top that allows the students to see everything that went into playing a VHS tape. In addition to broadcasting and video production, his students also learn about media work and will soon learn about web design. Their lessons include all kinds of subject matter that broadcasters and journalists use.
