Hennessey Track and Field star staying busy in off-season
Coming off an incredible freshman year that saw her win the discus and shotput at the Meet of Champions, and earn a nomination for Oklahoma’s Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year, Madison Collier is continuing to compete in meets across the country. “It’s exciting to know that I’ve gotten through that first year,” Collier said.
“I am excited because I did better than I thought I would but I also feel like I can get better.” Last weekend, Collier traveled to Midwest City for the Eastside Steppers Track and Field Invitational, where she once again won in both the discus and shotput events. This performance comes on the heels of the Great Southwest Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Collier competed against some of the best competition in the country, including the top-ranked discus hurler Mikayla Deshazer from Missouri.
