Injury-riddled season come to an end for Hennessey against Chisholm
A rough season, full of injuries and disappointment finally came to an end for the Hennessey Eagles, after dropping the season finale to Chisholm 49-26. For coach Rick Luetjen and the Eagles, a 2-8 year was far from where expectations were set, but it quickly became the reality as Hennessey struggled to stay healthy throughout the season.
“It’s tough because this is probably one of the biggest senior classes we have had,” explained Luetjen. “It is certainly one of the most experienced groups we have had considering how many started for us throughout their careers as underclassman. They put a lot of work in over the years to get to this senior season, and it’s disappointing to have watch them suffer through a tough season like we’ve had.”
Overall, Hennessey had eight of their 36 players miss at least one game this year, while many in that group were two-way starters. Even when some of the players could get on the field, injuries still limited what they could accomplish, and that was no more evident than at the quarterback position.
