Lady Eagles finish second at hometown tourney
On the last weekend of March, the Hennessey Lady Eagles’ hosted their annual softball tournament, bringing seven teams together. Despite a slow start, the Lady Eagles rallied on Saturday to win second place in the event.
While Thursday consisted of pool play for Group A, Hennessey, Okeene, and Okarche hit the diamond on Friday to determine the rankings of Group B. After the Lady Eagles squeezed by Okeene 7-6, Hennessey found themselves at the wrong end of a blowout against Okarche.
The Eagles did not score their first run until the fifth inning, and only collected four hits prior to that. In the fifth inning, they strung together a walk, and three straight singles, including Edith Alaniz’s third of the game, to score what turned out to be their lone run in the contest.
