Lady Eagles kickoff track season with eight-place finish in Cherokee
The Hennessey High School track teams opened up their season prior to school letting out for Spring Break. They traveled to Cherokee on Friday, March 15, where the Lady Eagles finished eighth with 20 points.
Sophomore Madison Collier had an overall dominant performance to start of the season with first-place finishes in both the shot put and discus to earn all 20 of the Lady Eagles’ points. Her toss of 38 feet, 9 ½ inches in the shot put was more than five feet further than any of her competitors.
Collier’s distance of 140 feet, six inches was an inch shy of clearing the secondbest toss by 42 feet. It’s early in the season but her performance in the discus is the top mark in the state, regardless of the class.
Kassidi Amburn finished eighth in the 300-meters hurdles with a time of 55.59 seconds in her top performance of a busy day. She also finished 17th in the 10-meter dash and 18th in the 200-meter dash.
