Moery, Perez compete at State Meet

The Hennessey Eagles had a pair of participants at this past weekends’ State Championship Cross-Country Meet in Shawnee. Both freshman Yadira Perez and sophomore Noah Moery represented the Eagles at the event after qualifying in the Regional Meet that was held in Enid the prior week.

Perez finished the 3200-meter race in 14:54.4, which was a tenth of a second slower than her time at the Regional Meet. The time was good enough to place Perez 105th at the State Meet, and her average per kilometer was 4:39.5, which ranked 30th among freshmen.

Moery ran the 5000-meter event in 19:21.8 which placed him 48th in the race. Unfortunately, that time was nearly 40 seconds off his time at the Regional which would have been good enough to net him 21st this past Saturday.
