Sanders Passes Bill Tightening DUI Offenders Participation in Victims’ Impact Panels

House Majority Leader Mike Sanders (R-Kingfisher) today passed a bill in the Oklahoma House of Representatives that would strengthen the role of victims’ impact panels in helping to stop driving under the influence (DUI) offenses in Oklahoma and to reduce the number of repeat offenders.

NODA awards funds to local fire departments

Representatives from all eight of the fire departments in Kingfisher County were honored to host Sen. Darcy Jech and Rep. Mike Sanders at the Okarche Fire Station. Sen. Jech and Rep. Sanders were attending to present an honorary check representative of operational funds received by the departments from the Oklahoma Depart-ment of Agriculture, Forestry division. The funds are to be used for the day-to-day expenses of operating the fire departments. The monies distributed are accounted for annually to the rural fire coordinator. Each department received $4,641.52, an increase of about 10% from last year due to legislators increasing the funding.
