HHS principal, two more resign

High school principal Brady Barnes has resigned after 10 years in that job. The 1995 HHS grad was hired as the Newkirk superintendent.
His resignation is effective June 15, according to his letter read by Supt. Joe McCulley at Monday night’s board meeting. The other two resignations announced were Mark Cox, teacher and track and football coach here for 10 years who has accepted the head football coach job at Okeene, and Nathanial Parker, a high school English teacher, who will move to Nebraska to help with the family farm. Both of their resignations are effective at the end of the school year this month.
Present at the Monday night meeting were president Joe Garrison; vice president Kevin Fuksa; clerk Patrick Griffin, and Cristopher Choate. Absent was Dr. James Matousek.
The board also voted to hire these new teachers for the 2016-17 year: Sheena Compton, high school math; Aaron Compton, high school science; Megan J. (Rozeveld) Karsten, high school Spanish, and Mark Ryan, high school social studies.

The board voted to rehire the following non-certified personnel for the 2016-17 school year: Wilma Adams, Christine Barnett, Amber Beaman, Gary Beaman, Ruth Beltran, Lisa Bossa, Jenni Calvert, Todd Cameron, Grace Chavez, Ginger Cox, Paola Escarcega, Luz Escobedo, Maria Fierro, Sherri Fipps, Rosa Garcia, Brenda Gonzalez, Yecenia Guevara, Donnie Harris, Walt Herod, Ginger Hladik, Basilia Holguin, Rita Huntsberger, Charlotte Jones, Janet Marquez, Norma Robles-Mier, Evelin Montes, Carolina Orozco, Brent Polwort, Patty Rains, Carrie Rhamy, Patty Shaw, Jose Solis, Emilie Spurrier, Karen Swart, Jeff Terrell, Sandra Torres, Herminia Valles, Rose Velazquez and Sharon Worden.
Other personnel matters
The board also appointed Patty Shaw as the lunch fund custodian for the remainder of the school year. “She took over for Chasity Fipps,” McCulley said.
Teachers of the Month
Chosen as Teachers of the Month are Christy Streck,elementary; Debbie Hladik, middle, and Mark Cox, high school. They will receive gift certificates from 4-T’s Family Market, Eat It Up, Golden Chick and Garden’s Edge. See next week’s edition for discussion about school finances and more.
