October is domestic violence awareness month
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and with this issue on the rise, as Oklahoma is ranked fourth in the country for domestic violence, it is important to face the issue head on by spreading awareness and offering support. The color to raise awareness and support is purple. Domestic violence is defined by the National Domestic Violence website, nnedv.org, as one of these four types of abuse: physical, sexual, emotional and financial. Each of these types of abuse are damaging to the person experiencing them.
