Sanders Comments on REAL ID Extension

House Majority Leader Mike Sanders (R-Kingfisher) commented today on Oklahoma’s extension on REAL ID compliance until Sept. 18, 2020.

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced the extension today, granted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Oklahoma’s former extension was scheduled to expire Oct. 10 this year. Had this latest extension not been granted, Oklahoma residents would have had to have other acceptable forms of identification to fly commercially or to enter federal facilities.

“This is a relief for the many people who have contacted me with concerns about traveling or who need access to federal buildings or U.S. military bases,” Sanders said. “I’m thankful for the work of the governor and leadership at the state Department of Public Safety to secure this extension. I also appreciate their pledge to get Oklahoman in full compliance in advance of the new deadline.”
