From top to bottom, growth is evident in Lady Eagles’ basketball program

The Hennessey Lady Eagles continued their work on the hardwood with team camps in Kingfisher last week, that included both the middle school and high school teams. This summer’s action marks the beginning of the second year under Coach Haylie Simunek, and already Coach Simunek is beginning to see areas of improvement in not only her girls, but herself as well.

“Confidence has been huge for me going into my second year,” stated Simunek. “I know what to expect now. I’ve learned a lot about my girls and what kind of coach I need to be for them. Focusing on relationships over wins this year is huge for me. I have a group of great girls and getting to be there coach for another year is a huge blessing and responsibility that I don’t take lightly.”

This summer work is offering valuable experience to a high school team with quite a few underclassmen, and the girls are showing progress on both ends of the court thus far. On offense, passing has been much crisper, creating open looks and lanes thanks to their improved ball movement.
