Wine-Down Weekend, Hennessey
Memorial Park played host to nearly 3,000 patrons last Saturday for Hennessey United’s 8th Annual Wine and Chocolate Festival. The event has grown into one of the most heralded wine festivals, with over 20 wineries, and more than 100 different wines. Winemakers came from all over Oklahoma to put the fruits of their labor up for judging as the supporters and the Oklahoma Grape Industry Council voted in two separate contests to decide the top wine at the event. On-goers also got to sample some tasty treats as there were multiple booths handing out chocolate delicacies. Also, a kudos to the Hennessey Fire Department for the outstanding beef sandwiches they were passing out.
This year, Hennessey’s Turn-er Me On won the People’s Choice First prize, owned by Sandy and Curtis Turner. Their cross-town rivals at Vernost Wine Company won second place, while Stubborn Bull Wines took third
