Work starts on US 81 Wednesday

The cones were put in place on US 81 north of Hennessey for a pavement rehabilitation project that starts Wednesday, The Clipper learned after this week's edition went to press. This project includes an asphalt overlay on US-81 from just north of the SH-51 junction in Hennessey, extending a little more than three miles north to the Garfield County line. Work is expected to take about three months to complete. Drivers can expect temporary lane closures and shifts, and should be alert to crews working near traffic. The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone and drivers should plan extra travel time. The $1.2 million contract was awarded in March to Haskell Lemon Construction, Co. of Oklahoma City. This project is in ODOT’s Asset Preservation Plan, which is focused on extending the life cycles of highway pavements and bridges.
